A Solid Display

Description

"A Solid Display"

My first unofficial assignment.

Edit: Many people asked me :"What is it?"

My answer: It's a rock, on a cloth, on a stool, on a wooden flooring, in front of a lead pipe and a wall behind everything else.

This work is sourced from a learning art book published from China and this book displayed many of the still life elements that students in China would draw to improve their skills. I was given this task to gauge my capability in expressing realism drawing.

I humbly state that I have a lot to learn from this experience, and one of the biggest lesson was that I seriously had to work faster. Faster not in a sense that my movements had to be rapid, but rather in time management. Procrastination is probably the word best fit the situation. More often than not, I'd be doing something else rather than focusing my time and effort solely in my work, and thus the great delay in the completion of the work.

I do suppose my journey begins here, from the advance basics of pencil drawing. We will see how far my patience in stretch. :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time : On-off close to 2 months.

Tools :
-2B, 3B, 4B, 5B, 8B Pencils (Mix of Faber Castel and Staedtler)
-Sharpened eraser
-Natural blending (by means of accidental friction from the palm while drawing)

Minor Editing : Photoshop CS5

Yours sincerely,
Elyk

Looks amazing! 2 Months is insane bro. The longest Ive spent on a drawing is maybe a week on/off. Would have been nice to see the progression as you went through with this building it up over the weeks. Drawing is the fundamental of all art and you have displayed a great talent!
